Porch Project Battlefield Tour

The Hadleigh Great War Centenary Project took a group of youngsters from the St Mary’s Porch Project on a battlefield tour to Belgium and France.  During the trip the group followed in the footsteps of Hadleigh men who fell and heard stories of how the war effected the town.  There were several highlights, but one that stands out was when 13 year old Bobby Evans found his great great great uncle's name, Private Charles Mitchell on the Menin Gate.  Charles is one of over 53,000 men who went missing in the Ypres Salient.
